The Whole Package
On 1st January 2005, DHL New Zealand and New Zealand Post finalised a 50:50 joint venture in a domestic courier business: Express Couriers Limited (ECL). This deal was a logical extension of an already long term and productive relationship between DHL and New Zealand Post.
This partnership simply combines two strong brands with market leadership in both domestic and international segments. By combining DHL's international network and strength in the global express and logistics markets, with ECL's extensive coverage and knowledge of the New Zealand market, customers will receive a more complete service.
The joint venture draws strength from the immediately recognisable brands of DHL and New Zealand Post. It uses the resources of ECL - vans, premises and people - to deliver a consistent message to the market, one of international reach and domestic strength: a partnership that can satisfy the needs of all customers from Kaitaia to Bluff with reach into over 220 countries and territories around the world.
The 2nd June 2005 heralded the launch of the new business brands: CourierPost (local and overnight domestic express), Pace (local point-to-point and same day national delivery) and Contract Logistics (third party warehousing and logistics management). The new brand look, incorporating the distinctive red and yellow colours of the DHL brand, covers the entire 800 vehicle fleet, all ECL premises, courier uniforms, packaging, stationery and collateral.
